As Korniloff explains, it’s just part of the job. “The art world has gone global,” he says. “It’s a world market and my job is being connected to dealers. Gallery owners are very unique and very smart business people.“

The same could be said of Korniloff, who joined Art Miami 17 years ago. After studying hospitality management, he was facility manager at the Miami Beach Convention Center and ran Palm Beach International Fine Art Fair before coming to Art Miami.

Now in its 19th year, the show is known for contemporary and international art.  It’s an important show because of its location: a city bursting at the seams with nouveau art energy and European money, an American Riviera with a fashionable gallery district, Wynwood, which also happens to be the location for Art Miami’s annual show.

Says Korniloff, “Art is now a huge part of the Miami landscape. The art world is blooming here.”

So what’s hot at this fair? Robert Fishko, a contributor and the owner of New York’s prominent Forum Gallery, confides, “Anything goes. The quality of the art is all that matters.”

Among the paintings, sculptures, prints and textiles, attendees may stumble upon a treasure: a Picasso, Warhol, Lichtenstein, or Damien Hirst, perhaps. That’s because, according to Korniloff, “we laid the foundation for contemporary art in Miami.”
