North Beach Music Festival Schedule: DAMN SKIPPY!

North Beach Music Festival in Miami Beach is back for its second iteration, and GMP Live have ensured this will be no sophomore slump, expanding the fest to three days at the Miami Beach Bandshell (yes, its name was recently changed from North Beach Bandshell, and yes, it looks like it could fly off!). The festival utilizes two stages: the Bandshell stage and the Park stage just outside the bandshell enclosure.

Let’s get straight to it!

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9

For opening day, all music will be on the Bandshell stage. Excellent local fusion group Lemon City Trio open the festivities at 4:45, followed by Brandon “TAZ” Niederauer. A long power outage during TAZ’s set last year cut it drastically short, and GMP Live were happy to have him back to finish the job!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10

Now music bounces back and forth between the two stages, which are a minute or two apart. Shira Elias also performed last year as a guest with The Motet. She returns with her own band and will also be with her compatriots in Cool Cool Cool Sunday. The one and only Keller Williams is in the loop next, followed by Melt, who just released fine single “Fade Into You.”

Brace yourself for the remainder of the evening, starting with the dope grooves of Dopapod and then the synthwave beast Doom Flamingo. Trouble No More are a premier Allman Brothers tribute band featuring Brandon ‘Taz’ Niederauer, guitar, vocals; Daniel Donato, guitar, vocals; Dylan Niederauer, bass guitar; Jack Ryan, drums; Lamar Williams Jr., vocals; Nikki Glaspie, drums, vocals; Peter Levin, keyboards; and Roosevelt ‘The Dr.’ Collier, pedal steel guitar, lap steel guitar. Finally jamtronic masters Lotus get the finally notes.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11

Two great South Florida proponents give Sunday a push, with Afrobeta and then brilliant trance, jamtronica, and prog from Guavatron. Shira Elias is back with her best buds Craig Broadhead, Chris Brouwers, Michelangelo Carubba, Shira Elias, Sammi Garett, Greg Sanderson, and Josh Schwartz plus a bass player to be named later, appearing in their new guise as Cool Cool Cool. They debuted recently at Brooklyn Comes Alive.

Neighbor has been storming across the country and will bring their good vibes to NBMF, followed by Antibalas, now 24 years into the business of delivering authentic Afrobeat. And, if you’re looking for a fabulous pair of funkin’ bands, you won’t find two better than Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe AND Lettuce.

The inaugural fest last December was magnificent. This one promises to be all of that and more!
