Northlands Music & Arts Festival: More Bounce to the Ounce

Ounce for ounce, pound for pound, you’d be hard-pressed to find a festival with more bounce, funk, rock, soul, and American groove than Northlands Music & Arts Festival this Friday and Saturday, June 24 & 25, in Swanzey, New Hampshire. Top to bottom, this one just shimmers, and, with just two stages — Echo and Mountain, you don’t have to miss a single note!

FRIDAY, JUNE 24

Let’s face it: if the opening band is Dogs in a Pile, you know this fest is deep in talent. Blue Star Radiation are up next, and then Dopapod, still early in the afternoon. That’s because the funk juggernaut Lettuce are up next, then jamtronic masters Lotus. Joe Russo’s Almost Dead appropriately has the final word. Silent Disco finishes off the night.

SATURDAY, JUNE 25

The Trichomes kick off Day 2 at noon, with Joe Samba and Hayley Jane & the Primates following. Get deep in the groove with lespecial, then diversify with Pink Talking Fish. There’s alternative reggae from The Movement, magical genre-bending from Yonder Mountain String Band, and Melvin Seals’ Grateful Revue. That leaves it to Twiddle to close out the fest (well, except for more Silent Disco!).
