With this watch featuring a revisited scenography, the winged hourglass brand is moving off the beaten track with a remarkable aesthetic evolution of its chronograph.
Designed to pay tribute to the timepieces that accompanied the adventurers of the 20th century, the Spirit collection currently comprises three models. There is the 3-hand watch, a GMT, both with a sporty chic look, and a chronograph with traditional lines. This year, Longines injected a new dynamism into the design of the latter with the help of a contrasting combination that adds excitement to the dial. The hour circle of the Spirit Pioneer Edition, with its bright green luminescent Arabic numerals, and the hour and minute hands finished with the same Super-Luminova®, stand out against a flat black background. While the small second hand and the two counters used to measure the time intervals in the tricompax position can be found, this reference is also noteworthy for the absence of a date. This choice renders it more readable by freeing up space in the layout. Less is more!
This same approach is applied to the 42mm diameter case. Although the dimension remains similar, the use of grade 5 titanium enables significantly lowering the weight of the timepiece. The weight is reduced from 123.1 g to 92.8 g.
As for the caliber, Longines maintains the L688.4 that still offers 66 hours of power reserve. This self-winding movement equipped with a silicon single-crystal balance-spring excels in terms of precision. Its chronometry is thus certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). To further enhance its modern personality, the Spirit Pioneer Edition comes with a black synthetic textile wristband fastened by a titanium buckle.
