Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance: SCHEDULE
Four stages. More than two dozens performances on Friday and on Saturday, ten on Friday, and lots of special events on Sunday. That’s what you have to look forward to this Thursday through Sunday, October 6-9, at Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance in Pittsboro, North Carolina.
You can’t see and hear everyone, but you can see a lot, and many of the bands are appearing twice. And that doesn’t count your host band Donna the Buffalo sporting FIVE sets over the weekend! Music will be presented on Meadow Stage, Dance Tent, Carson’s Grove, and Cabaret Tent.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6
Donna the Buffalo perform every day (and twice on Sunday!). The opening ceremony is at 4:30, and on the various stages you will find Kaleta & Super Yamba Band, Vicious Fishes, Maddy Walsh & the Blind Spots, The Carolina Sweaters, and more!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7
Yoga at 9? Double Dutch & Rhythm at 11? That’s how you start the day. So much great music Friday, including Andy Frasco & the U.N., Dr. Bacon, Eric Karsno Trio, Jimkata, Cosmic Perspective, Magnolia Boulevard, Rebekah Todd, Dr. Fruit, and 20 more bands and performers!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8
There are children’s activities Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Saturday: Kids’ Yoga and Sea Songs for Little Pirates. On stage: Duck, The Bones of J.R. Jones, Jose Albizu Jazz Trio, Afrobeta, Driftwood, Ellis Dyson & the Shambles, Skyblew, Hayley Jane with Her Band, a Poetry Slam, and more, more, more music.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9
Donna the Buffalo do Zydeco dance early in the day and then anchor the closing GrassRoots All-Star Jam. Morning Communion, Big Wonderful Variety Show, Improv, Green Grass Cloggers Workshop, and Zydeco Dance Workshop are all on the schedule, as is the GrassRoots Songwriters’ Circle. Also, lots more music, including Sam Fribush Organ Trio and Annie in the Water.
