If you’re looking to get a watch for under $500, you’re probably going to check out Timex, as the brand makes some of the best affordable watches in the business. And if you’re on the hunt for some rugged yet stylish outdoor gear? Then Huckberry is likely on your list of shopping destinations, as the online retailer has established itself as the place to go for elevated adventure gear. So when these two brands come together on a watch — as they’ve done a handful of times before — you know the product will be special. And their latest collab might be their best yet.

Following up on their previous ’90s throwback Ironman resurrection and their Rolex Explorer II-influenced Navi XL Automatic collabs, Timex and Huckberry have joined forces on a field watch. But not just any field watch. This might be the best field watch we’ve ever seen from Timex, and it offers some pretty stellar value.

  • Case Size: 41mm
  • Water Resistance: 200m
  • Movement: Miyota Automatic

The first thing you’ll notice about the watch is the dial. It’s matte white, a somewhat unusual color for a field watch but a striking one — especially when paired with the brightly glowing C3 SuperLumiNova coating the hands and indices. Huckberry says the dial and lume were inspired by “the Northern Lights and wind-whipping winter excursions.” I think that’s probably overselling it a bit, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look good.

Timex didn’t slack when it came to the lume, going with extra-bright C3 Super-LumiNova.

Moving onto the case, it’s 41mm across and 12.5mm thick with a 20mm lug spacing. Those numbers are pretty standard, but the case material is anything but. The case is crafted from titanium, which will make the watch wear nice and light, and the finish is totally bead blasted, which will help hide any scratches while also giving the watch a more utilitarian look. An AR-coated sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a display caseback features both brands’ logos and gives a look at the Japan-made Miyota automatic movement powering the watch. Did I mention the watch is an automatic? ‘Cause it’s an automatic.

While it won’t win any beauty contests, the Miyota automatic movement powering the watch is a true workhorse.

While not a dive watch, this field watch boasts 200m of water resistance and a screwdown Huckberry-signed crown, so it can easily handle any water event you’re likely to run into. The watch comes with two straps, too. One blue and one olive drab green, both are two-piece straps made from TIDE nylon, which uses upcycled ocean-bound plastic. The straps’ hardware is bead blasted titanium to match the case.

Now, the best part of all? The watch costs just $375. For a titanium field watch with sapphire, great lume, a Miyota movement, 200m water resistance from two trusted brands, that’s pretty excellent value. But the watch won’t be around for long: Huckberry and Timex are making just 500 examples, so I suggest you act fast if you want one.
